I will never forget the
festival that Capital Community College (CCC) put on at Bushnell Park. I was a
student at CCC at the time and was in the Capital Student News (CSN) and it was
fun hanging out on the set and filming while they had different shows on in the
CSN. I mainly wanted to help out with technical stuff because I've did most of
my acting, stories, writing, etc., when I was at Manchester Community College
(MCC). I wanted to just let the younger students get their chance to do what
they loved doing. Anyway, one of the fellow students was telling everyone in the
CSN about the festival that CCC put on (the school fund different events
because they care so much about the students) at Bushnell Park. It was CCC way
of saying we appreciate the time that we all take out of the busy work in
school to be a part of an extra circular activity like the CSN. The CSN met
every Friday and I was a part of this club because I wasn't busy working like
some students who went to CCC and worked, too. I was on board for whatever they
decided to do for stories and my part was to help out on the set because I
accepted that as my role.
Meanwhile,
we were all invited to come out to the Bushnell the spring of 2006 that year.
We were even encouraged to invite our friends & family to come out to
Bushnell Park. Bushnell Park is a really beautiful park in Downtown Hartford so
whenever people who visit Connecticut I recommend coming to Bushnell Park. The
festival had food, games, and different activities at this fun filled event!
The following food was free: Fried Dough with sauce, fried dough with cinnamon,
soda, funnel cakes, pizza (yes some slices), popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy,
etc. I had a chance to re-learn about the city I grew up in (that being
Hartford) before I moved to Bloomfield when I was a teenager. Hartford is the
Capital and yes it is small and it has it's good & unfortunately not so good
about it, too. To be honest, I mainly went to the festival because I felt I
needed to get out anyway. What made Capital more convenient for students to
walk to the Bushnell Park is when CCC moved from Woodland St. in Hartford to
Main St. in Downtown Hartford in 2003 and CCC has been Downtown ever since. I
enjoyed going to Bushnell Park and had fun chilling and watching people
interacting with each other while at the park. I think what I enjoyed the most
about being at Bushnell Park other than seeing fellow CSN workers there, also seeing parents there with their children at the park!
